Cardiac Dysrhythmia Interpretation: Step I (2 Day)

 

Please Note: This is a 2-day course. By selecting the date listed you are registering for this date and the following day. The times for this course are Day 1 (7:45am-4:30pm) and Day 2 (7:45am-4:00pm).

 

Description and Target Audience: The Cardiac Dysrhythmia Interpretation workshop is designed to prepare health care professionals to correctly identify cardiac dysrhythmias and life threatening dysrhythmias.  This conference will benefit healthcare professionals caring for patients on cardiac monitors, usually RN/LPN and EMS.

 

Objectives:

At the end of this course, participants should be able to:

·         Identify the physiological anatomy of the cardiac conduction system.

·         Correlate EKG waveform and intervals with the physiologic events each represents. 

·         Specify the characteristics of all EKG waveforms and intervals.

·         Analyze EKG strips in a systematic and thorough manner.

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for normal sinus rhythm.

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for sinus, tachycardia, and bradycardia.

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for atrial tachycardia, flutter, fibrillation and PAC’s

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for PJC’s, junctional tachycardia, junctional escape rhythm and accelerated junctional rhythm.

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for PVC’s, ventricular tachycardia, and ventricular fibrillation

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for idioventricular rhythm and asystole.

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for SVT.

·         Correctly interpret EKG rhythm strips for first degree, second and third degree AV block

Testing: Written test (40 questions including 20 ECG strips)

Location: CoxHealth Education Center, CoxHealth North, K400, 4th Floor,

Classroom #1.

 

Directions: Enter Cox North from the Robberson Ave. Northwest Entrance. Upon entering the building turn right and take the elevator to the 4th floor. You will arrive in the Education Center lobby.

CoxHealth Education Center is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Missouri Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation.
